Youths of Atissa Kingdom in the Yenagoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa State under the umbrella body of Atissa Youths Council have written an open letter to Bayelsa State Governor Senator Douye Diri.

AN OPEN LETTER TO HIS EXCELLENCY SENATOR DOUYE DIRI, ON THE OBOGORO EROSION MENACE.
Your excellency, sir, may I, firstly, congratulating you, on behalf of the Atissa Youths, on your emergence as the PDP “Flag Bearer” for the November 11th gubernatorial general election in Bayelsa state – congratulations!
As your heart still merry from my congratulatory pen, I want to re-appeal to your conscience the strokes of depression on the light skins of the Obogoro people.
I am well abreast with the efforts of your government to provide a permanent solution to the cancer ferocious claws of erosion on the fragile soil of Obogoro community – the efforts are commendable – however, too prolonging!
Your government is doing explicitly overwhelming for the rural communities; an endeavour deserving commendation. But, your excellency, would you channel more attention; I mean, urgent attention to the plight of my people? Each crow of the cock poises pant on my people as dawn and dusk sweep away properties and livelihood by the empowering prowess of erosion; a situation deserving every grain of empathy!
Those youths who threaten protests or make unending posts on the social media are not fueling embers of discord rather, they feel perplexed by the overwhelmingly prolonged solution to an extremely hazardously ferocious situation.
Your Excellency, a child who cries uncontrollably to his supposed helper(s) when his trenches are engulfed with “flames causing drains” is never meant to be bullied. Unfortunately, some eye-service Epie-Atissa acclaimed stakeholders mixed with some greedy kinsmen of Obogoro community have gone on air to condemn the actions of the agitated youths of Obogoro town; a show of cowardice!
Your Excellency, the Obogoro erosion needs urgent attention as the rains are here again! If nothing is done urgently, we may wake up one day to see that our ancestral land of Obogoro is dead to grips of erosion!
