The Ogbia Local Government Councilor representing Ogbia Ward 2 who built a concrete linking bridge for his constituents has bagged an Award of Excellence.
Hon. Tyna Onem Miracle who is the Deputy Majority Leader Ogbia 8 legislative Assembly was honoured by the Africa Leadership and Diplomatic Academy in recognition of her contribution towards Community Development.
Hon. Onem Miracle Tyna, became talk of Bayelsa State for building a bridge linking two communities in Ogbia. She was praised by many Bayelsans and was even invited to meet the Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri.
According to her, she used money meant for her official car to complete the project.
As councillors, they were giving money to buy themselves official cars. She instead used hers to complete the bridge project because the money giving to her for ward project was not enough.
“When i met with the Community chiefs and told them, i would like to embark on the bridge project, they told me to do another project that the bridge project will be too heavy for me. I told them i will do it”. She said
“If this is the only thing i can do for the people as their councilor, then I must to it. If you are driving a car from the other end, you will have to park, then cross over before taking another vehicle, keke, or bike to your destination, it was not easy for the people”. She said further
“This is the sacrifice I have to make for my people. This is more important to me than driving a car at the moment”.
